The case study in Venezuela will focus on the reconstruction after the 1999 landslides in the Vargas region, referred to as La Tragedia. The linear urbanized area of Vargas (El litoral), is composed out of various cities that are located on alluvial fans that were created by reoccurring landslides in the past. This naturally makes the whole area an precarious site to dwell.
